Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Margaux. The Chateau Durfort-Vivens takes its name from the Durfort de Duras family, who settled in the Margaux appellation in the 14th century, and from the Viscount Robert Labat de Vivens who, in 1824, became the owner of the estate by inheritance and associated his name with it.
Acquired in 1937 by the owners of Château Margaux, one of the main shareholders of which was the Lurton family at the time, this Second Grand Cru Classé became the property of Lucien Lurton in 1961 and then in 1992 of his son, Gonzague Lurton.
Partly aged in amphora, the wines of Château Durfort-Vivens are recognized for their precision and elegance. The estate now holds the largest amphora cellar in the world by volume.
A deep and brilliant robe. Château Durfort-Vivens 2015 is an exceptional wine combining smoothness, richness, nobility, and aromatic freshness. A truly great vintage.
Tasting Notes: Rich and powerful nose, harmonious bouquet of black fruits, licorice, violet, and vanilla pod. Palate with beautiful aromatic and mineral freshness. Beautiful persistence.
Grape varities: Cabernet Sauvignon 90%, Merlot 10%.
